There’s a reason this city is obsessed with coffee. It’s not about caffeine — it’s about care. The barista who dials in the grind. The roaster who sources single-origin beans from a farm they’ve visited. The ritual of it.
I started noticing the same thing in the best engineers I worked with here. It was never about shipping fast. It was about shipping right.
Sydney to Melbourne
Moving from Sydney changed my perspective. Sydney is fast, loud, ambitious. Melbourne is thoughtful, layered, patient. Both cities shaped me, but Melbourne taught me to slow down and care about the details.
The spaces in between
Some of my best ideas haven’t come from staring at a screen. They’ve come from walking along the Yarra, sitting in a laneway cafe, or watching the rain from a tram window.
